11 Degrees Fahrenheit
"Never be within doors when you can rightly be without." Charlotte Mason
When it is warm inside and cold out, it is far easier to stay in. 11 degrees Fahrenheit, overcast weather is bitterly cold and after layer upon layer, we make the 1-hour drive to take a snow hike at Wind Canyon National Park.
Crunch, crunch, crunch and we make our first footprints in to the snow breaking the still quiet of winter. Hoarfrosted mullen, yucca and pines cover the wintry scene. We feel as though we are all in a snow globe.
But wait! There is sign of life. My oldest notices a rabbit finding cover. Fast as light, he is burrowed under a waste bin. My youngest sits and waits for it to come out from under.

It is so tempting to stay under and in our warm burrows. Taking that one intentional step to overcome our warm comforts to go outside is a priceless blessing.
1 Timothy 4:4
For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with gratitude;
Another thought provoking entry, Jan, and your quote from the Bible is just as apt. It is a constant challenge for me to go out for my morning walk, but when I am home again and coming inside, it is that much more rewarding.
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing! kids are resilient! and with parents that are willing to lead the charge! all is possible! glad God can be found wherever we are as he is with us always! - take care, Jan -
